The Judging Panel

The GBEAs take great care about the makeup of our independent judging panel. Unlike most other awards we don't adopt a one size fits all approach and expect a small group of judges to be able to assess a broad range of entries for which they may have little or no knowledge. Instead, we have built a large panel of experts from which we can select a bespoke judging team that has an in depth knowledge of the sector to which the individual entries relate.

The panel is regularly evolving as we invite senior representatives from award winning organisations to join. This unique approach ensures that every entry is given the utmost consideration by people highly qualified to pass judgement.

Ady Moores - P2i
Ady was appointed as Group CEO of P2i in October 2016. Having previously served eight years as the Company’s Group CFO, Ady supported P2i’s fast growth from start-up to substantive, profitable business through his leadership of a series of successful funding rounds and responsibility for P2i’s financial, legal and administrative functions.
Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996, Ady joined KPMG where he specialized in advising software and hardware companies. After spending time in the automotive industry, Ady spent three years as European Financial Controller for 3DO, a NASDAQ listed video games publishing company. In 2003, he was appointed Finance Director at Bright Things plc, an entertainment company, which he took from inception through IPO raising in excess of £11.5m. Before joining P2i, Ady was Finance Director at 1E, a Sunday Times Tech Track 100 company; he also serves as Chairman of all three wholly-owned subsidiaries of P2i.
Greg Wixted - We Are Xpert
Greg Wixted is an award winning entrepreneur with an impressive track record of delivering business growth and transformation though innovation and marketing for the past 19 years. Armed with an entrepreneurial mindset, a deep interest in innovation, strategy and marketing and he has hands-on experience in building, managing, developing growth businesses and ventures, both in the UK and Internationally.
He has gained invaluable experience of devising innovation, business, marketing strategies and value propositions for over forty blue chip global companies across many sectors, adapting them to the new economy to drive greater customer profitability. He founded London, based international agency, We Are Xpert back in 2012 and before setting up the business he was an executive board director at international Advertising agency Madison, he has also held executive board positions at two of the world’s biggest Advertising agency’s, Grey Group where he was a regional executive director of the Middle East and Ogilvy & Mather.
Nicky McCrudden, MInLM
After graduating with a First Class Honours Degree and a stint in Academia, Nicky had a fast-track career in the Public Sector where she studied Strategic Leadership at Post-Graduate level and became the youngest Senior Manager in her organisation. In 2010, she moved out of the Public Sector and founded what is now a thriving and multi-award winning training, coaching and consultancy company.

A Belbin Accredited Practitioner, Nicky's approach to workplace learning is characterised by theory and experience wrapped up in creativity with just a light dusting of madness. This trademark style has seen Nicky and her company rack-up a multitude of a awards for business, innovation, entrepreneurship, and nationally at the Training Journal Awards.

Krunal Joshipura, BE, LSS, MBB
Krunal Joshipura is a Business Excellence professional with over 18 years business experience and more than 10 years specialist experience in Business Excellence. He is a graduate engineer with a vast experience in diversified industries like Manufacturing, International Contact Center/BPO, Telecoms, Shared Service Centers, and Customer Service.

A certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Krunal has led various process excellence initiatives like:
  • Building up organisational strategy and objectives using "Hoshin Kanri" concept
  • Establishing model of Continuous Process Improvement in Shared Service Centre
  • Deployment of Lean Six Sigma strategies
  • Establishing, governing and sustaining management systems: BPMS, TL 9000
  • Setting up "Gemba investigation" structure using Continuous Improvement tools and techniques
  • Training & mentoring of Lean six sigma practitioners

Matthew Box
Matthew Box has worked as an Occupational Therapist for over 18 years in various fieldworker and management roles. He is also an experienced disability access auditor, having worked with large organisations such as Selfridges, the Arab National Bank, Theatre Royal and various regional councils.
He is the founder of Inclusion.Me Ltd, a rapidly expanding nationwide independent Occupational Therapy (OT) & Disability Access Auditing company specialising in providing expert OT interventions, as well as advise on disability access issues to both the private and public sectors.
Matthew has played a key role in Inclusion.Me winning a Local Business Accelerator Award, as well as 2 Best of the Best awards (Outstanding Entrepreneur & Customer Service) and 2 GBE awards (Outstanding Professional & Customer Service).
Charles Clark, Rosslyn Analytics
Charles co-founded Rosslyn Analytics and Ockham Capital and, prior to this was an Executive Director of the asset management division of Panmure Gordon, managing £1.3bn globally.
He has extensive experience of working with fast growing companies and the capital markets, whilst also currently sitting on the board of the highly successful SeaDragon Offshore Ltd, where he is responsible for corporate governance. Charles served with the British Army during Desert Storm and holds an MBA from City University Business School, is a Fellow of the Securities Institute and is an Accredited Associate of the Institute for Independent Business.
Karen Jones, NHS County Durham
Karen spent eight years in an academic research environment exploring the philosophy and practice of nursing, shared decision making with patients and the impact of evidence based practice on clinical audit of chronic disease management in primary care.
She obtained a masters in research methods and then moved back into the NHS as a senior public health specialist at a strategic level (health authority) and then transferred into a primary care trust. Karen now sits within the corporate improvement team where she takes a lead on coaching, culture and corporate projects within public health.
Andrew Areoff, Areoff
Andrew is founder and director of Areoff, a multi-award winning insurance and financial services website design specialist. What sets them apart is that rare ability to design sites that are search engine friendly, which in turn maximises online visibility and credibility but without sacrificing functionality and usability.
Their overriding aim is to is to make their clients more effective online and ultimately to transform their website into a key revenue stream, sales tool or reputation building communication platform. Andrew is regularly invited to join the judging panels of high profile awards.
Mark Lumsdon-Taylor, Hadlow College
Mark Lumsdon-Taylor attended Keele University where he read Law and Economics, and on leaving obtained a position as auditor within a top London firm in 1997. He quickly rose to become director of audit.
Mark joined Hadlow College in 2002 with an initial brief as a 'trouble shooter' to design and implement a fiscal recovery and to effect change within the College's central services. He was formally appointed to the Senior Management Team in 2003 with responsibility for finance, commercial and global operations. He was appointed Director of Finance & Resources in 2004 after extensive work following further recovery and reorganisation of the College's activities, which is now in the top category for financial stability and rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
Philip Young FBCS CITP, P-A-Y Consulting Limited
Philip is a former winner of the 'CIO Innovator award for the UK' and is a Fellow of the British Computer Society. He has over 30 years of experience gained working with well-known large brand companies, SME's and start-ups in the UK, Europe and Globally.
Philip is a business change specialist, working primarily in the complicated areas where successful integration of technology and I.T service functions into businesses is vital for success.

Philip is also Strategist, NED, published author, professional speaker and a mentor to young entrepreneurs and start-up companies.
Chris Nyland, Hidden Technology Systems International Ltd
Chris Nyland is the co-owner and International Marketing Director of a multi award winning British specialist electronic manufacturing company, Hidden Technology Systems International ltd.
He served in The Royal Navy and then spent 24 years with Essex Police, studied at The London Guildhall University achieving a Master of Science Degree in Decision Making, Psychology and Business Studies. In the last 14 years Chris has led his company to being active in over 40 countries, working with Police, Government and "Blue Chip" clients, providing high end security and surveillance solutions, specifically aimed at disrupting serious criminal and terrorist activities.

Hidden Technology Systems International Ltd was awarded The Queen's Awards For Enterprise: International Trade 2012 in recognition of the tremendous growth in export activity.
Tom Higgins, CEO of Gold-i
Tom Higgins is founder and CEO of the multi-award winning Gold-i, a trading technology company which develops software to give retail brokers access to the same tools as institutional brokers at a fraction of the cost.
In less than 5 years, Tom has grown Gold-i from start-up business to global market leader, with a focus on ongoing innovation, 'industry first' products and exceptional client service. Tom's experience in financial technology spans over 25 years in the City, including COO Europe & Asia at Reuters and Chief Technology Officer at online broker, ODL Securities. He holds an MBA, majoring in finance, from Cass Business School.

Gold-i has won a host of industry and business awards including Profit-Loss Magazine's Digital Markets Award for Innovation, a Crème de la Crème Business Award for Outstanding Retail Foreign Exchange Technology and has been named a Real Business Future 50 company.
Niall Shanahan - Escalla
Niall is an international consultant and Head of Training at Escalla, providing services to multi-nationals, systems integrators and central and local governments.
He has trained clients all over the world, in person and online, is an accredited assessor and online facilitator. He is also a previous winner of the Learning and Performance Institute's (LPI) Trainer of the Year Award.

Niall led the submission that won Escalla a National Training Award and is an integral part of the team that consistently wins the company multi-million pound training contracts around the world. He is a Fellow of the LPI and contributes to leading think tanks, especially around successful global training initiatives and developments in learning and technology.
